Portable transformer carts contain low voltage transformers, primary disconnects, and secondary sub-panels, or electrical tap boxes. Transformers can weigh from 200 lbs. to over 1000's of lbs. making them difficult to transport without the use of a forklift. The transformer carts' frame protects the transformer, primary disconnect and secondary distribution from damage.
